Thailand's PISA scores in maths, reading and science have fallen since 2012, and 77% of students performing below the basic level in maths come from the poorest income quartile. Meanwhile 4,620 students attend STEM-focused schools funded at 2.8 times the ordinary rate — out of roughly six million in the system.
คะแนน PISA ของไทยทั้งด้านคณิตศาสตร์ การอ่าน และวิทยาศาสตร์ลดลงตั้งแต่ปี 2012 และร้อยละ 77 ของนักเรียนที่มีผลสัมฤทธิ์ต่ำกว่าระดับพื้นฐานด้านคณิตศาสตร์มาจากกลุ่มครัวเรือนที่ยากจนที่สุด ขณะเดียวกันมีนักเรียนเพียง 4,620 คนที่ได้เรียนในโรงเรียนเน้น STEM ซึ่งได้รับงบประมาณต่อหัวสูงกว่าปกติ 2.8 เท่า จากนักเรียนทั้งระบบราวหกล้านคน
That gap is the reason our outreach targets an ordinary government school rather than a science or international school, and why it costs the school nothing.
